What was Churchill's ideology and how did it affect his and Great Britain's involvement in WWII. Specifically, how did Churchill direct the British people during this turbulent time?
Winston Churchill's ideology was one of a liberal mindset. He supported free trade and low tariffs. His superb writing skills assisted him greatly and made him an eloquent speaker. He was persuasive and warned Europe about Hitler's plans. He influenced many people with his speeches. His speeches were not only directed to Parliament, but reached a far greater audience. They were brilliantly delivered and are historic among all wartime speeches. Though he always came prepared with unyielding notes, he mainly spoke from memory. This provided him with the deep interaction with his audience and his ability to persuade. He felt that nations had to act quickly against Nazi Germany. A quote states that "Churchill threw himself tirelessly into all aspects of war policy and direction". We can assume that Churchill had a militaristic view. He directed the British people to nationalism and had Great Britain take action in World War II. He pushed America to take part in the war, while Britain and France were already in the combat and needed support. Britain and France were receiving threats of invasions from Germany and needed to add an extra ally.
